It has been a great pleasure to have participated directly in a humanitarian project of international cooperation this year 2018, with the collection of glasses, classification and delivery to disadvantaged educational communities in Peru, specifically the populations of Huilloc, Pallata, Urquillos and Urubamba (Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the Peruvian Andes)
Jordi Mouriño, Technical Director of Centre Òptic Màcula Visió, traveled there personally for the realization of visual exams and the delivery of the collected glasses.
During a week, 418 optometric examinations were carried out, most of them children, primary and secondary, and 103 prescription glasses and more than 500 sunglasses were distributed, especially for the protection of ultraviolet light as these populations exceed 3,000 meters. height. Informative brochures were also distributed to teachers and educators, to raise awareness of good visual hygiene in their schools.
We want to thank the wonderful welcome we received in these communities, congratulate the team of volunteers who traveled there and thank all the people who have collaborated to carry out this project, in which we hope to be able to collaborate again new.
Añay! (thanks in Quechua language)
