Under the title “Approach to Low Vision and Visual Impairment. Clinical case and personal experience” Jordi Mouriño, optometrist specializing in low vision and Director of the Centre Òptic Màcula Visió and Christian Garcia, journalist with visual impairment treated at Màcula Visió, were inaugurated at the Technical Optics Conference at the Institut Joan Brossa in Barcelona.
We bring the world of low vision to first and second year students of the higher degree training cycle of Optics in a theoretical and practical exhibition, where we show visual aids and talk about how to treat a visually impaired person.
It was also possible to experience low vision through the personal experience of Christian Garcia, who explained how he has lived his process to a new way of seeing and living. He explained his theory of the “triple A”: Attitude, Adaptation and Gratitude, where accompaniment and motivation are very important during the changes that produce a visual loss.
We would especially like to thank the teachers and students for the good reception with which they welcomed us and we hope to meet again in the near future.

You can listen a catalan interview of journalist Albert Om, in his program Islàndia on the RAC1 radio station, to Christian Garcia. We treated him in our Centre Òptic Màcula Visió, talking from his own experience about how his visual impairment has changed the way of seeing and living life.
